ASUU BSU CHAPTER MOBILISING FOR STRIKE- TARNONGO

The Chairperson, Academic Staff Union of Universities, Benue State University chapter, Makurdi, Comrade Dr. Kwaghfan Tarnongo has said that because of the perceived insensitive posture of the federal government in renegading the agreement reached with  ASUU, the union have no choice than to go into full scale mobilization of its members for an impending strike as being directed by the national body of the union.

He said towards that direction, the union was directed to call for an urgent Congress Meeting to be held tomorrow the 3rd of February 2022 to deliberate on how to mobilize her members on the impending strike that would commence anytime soon in the absence of the federal government to strictly adhere to the agreement reached with them. According to the labour leader " we are confident that if the President of this country, Muhammad Buhari is properly brifed about the impending ASUU strike, he would do everything humanly possible to avert it".

He further stressed that  ASUU has been sensitive to making sure they don't go on strike against the wrong notion that some people have against ASUU on embarking on frequent strike action, saying when lecturers go on strike, it affects them the more because after the strike, you have to come back and go all over  the work load that was left behind as a result of the strike .

He opined that the solution to perceived frequent strike by ASUU was for the government to fufill the agreement reached with the union wholistically so that there will be seemless academic programme in the nation public university system.
