Fuel Price Hike: Nigerians Enjoined To Be Patience, Assured Of Favourable Price In Future By Kingsley ihearindueme

Nigerians have been enjoined to exercise patience with the federal government in her effort to fight the current hike in the cost of the pump price of fuel in the country as there is hope for better days in the nearest future.

This reassurance is coming from Prof Billy Okoye, a renowned expert in the oil and gas industry in the country.

Sir Prof Okoye gave the promising assurance during his book launch at the International Conference Centre, ICC Abuja recently.

He explained that the country will soon bounce back into reckoning as one of the largest exporter of refined crude oil in the world with the completion and resustation of both the PortHarcourt and Warri refineries as promised by the Federal Government into full functionality.

It will be recalled that the federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently working very assiduously in bringing back the two moribund refineries into full functionality as to bring down the cost of the pump price of fuel in the open market in the country.

Prof. Okoye also while explaining further, stated that with the two refineries working in full capacity alongside the Dangote refinery which already has started work in Lagos, the country stands a good stead to enjoy a comparative advantage of producing more refined crude oil and when exported would generate huge foreign exchange for the country.

The bottom line of his explanation is with the large scale foreign exchange the country is expected to garner from the new development will  nonetheless go a long way in cushioning the  adverse effects of the economic hardship been experienced currently in the country.

However, the launch of the books by the author has been hailed by many in the oil and gas industry, including other major stakeholders and players in the industry.   

Pouring a high level of praises on the author,  High Chief Emma Nweke described the feat as worthy, stating that he is very proud of the author's achievement, especially with the level of attendance comprising the highest echelon from the Nigeria National Petroleum Company, NNPC Ltd who graciously attended the event.

He commended Prof Okoye for a thorough work, describing it as a tremendous achievement, especially as it takes some difficulty spanning many years to document one's activities in civil service.

Speaking on the relevance of the books to the oil and gas industry in the country, Dr. Obum Okoye, a younger brother to the author, the books are of high value and would certainly occupy a prime place in the development of the oil and gas activities in the country.

In his words, it is going to reshape and as well rejuvenate the knowledge in the industry very greatly and add more value in the industry, especially amongst the upcoming youngsters seeking knowledge in the field.
