Prof Innocent Ujah Honour In Umuahi South Local Government With A Call On Nigerians To See Themselves As One. By Archibong Esuene

The VIce Chancellor, Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Prof Innocent Ujah was over the weekend conferred with the Chieftaincy title of Nwannedinma 1 in Ezeleke, Umuahia South Local Government With an appeal on Nigerians to embrace one another.

His royal majesty, Eze Godfrey Ibeakanma, Ezeukwu Ezeleke, Umuahia South Local Government of Abia State who made the passionate appeal during the chieftaincy investiture of Prof Ujah in his Palace explained that Nigeria is stronger and better if Nigerians are united as one put together by God.

On the confirmation of Prof Ujah as the Nwanndinamba 1 of Ezeleke Autonomous Community Umuopara, Umuahia South Local Government of Abia State,, his royal majesty said Prof Innocent Ujah, OON, was honoured for his contributions to the growth and development of education and humanity in Nigeria.

According to the royal father, Prof Ujah is a true Nigerian,,' he is a detribilised Nigeria who has gone beyond religion, ethnicity and other primordial sentiments"

Eze Ibeakanma, the Ezeukwu Ezeleke Prof Ujah going through his records have not only contributed immensely to the development of medical profession in Nigeria, but equally to the development of humanity irrespective of the divide which according to him is what Nigeria need.

"We are happy we discovered him because of his contributions on medical education and human capital development in Nigeria and in our community here in Abia State. So we decided to honour him with a Chieftaincy title of Nwannedinamba 1 of Ezeleke Autonomous Community, Umuopara, Umuahia South Local Government of Abia State because we have equally befitted from his large heart". 

 Speaking further, he said Ezeleke Autonomous Community traditional council recognizes people based on their sound track records and anticedent expectations that they will do more tomorrow," therefore, we have recognised him  to encourage him in expectation that he will be able to do more for the benefit of our dear country and humanity."

In his response, the VC of FUSHO, Prof Innocent Ujah thanked his royal majesty and his traditional council members for the honour done to him and his family, stressing that what the country needs is oneness irrespective of tribe or religion.
While he commended Eze Godfrey Ibeakanma, the Ezeukwu Ezeleke Autonomous Community for his visionary leadership, " this is what is called transformational leadership because this is not in Idoma land, not Benue State, not even in Enugu State that is closer to us, but in Abia State. And again, it is good to keep relationship , we need to open up because we are all human beings and one Nigeria".

Prof Ujah  revealed that prior to is recognition by royal majesty, Eze Godfrey Ibeakanma and his traditional council, he  had no personal contact, " but through interaction with other processes, they decided that I deserve to be honoured. I have resisted this for a long time, but the way this one has been celebrated because is about the belief that I deserve and I really appreciate". 

He however noted that there is a great lesson to be learnt for the friendship across border lines because of the tribalistic, nepotistic attitudes makes it difficult for us to trust one another," but this an attestation done that we are still one. My belief is that you don't need to know anybody to help him/her probably it is my weak point which has turned out to be my strength.  I met Chief (Barrister Iroham Ezerendu at the National Institute of Medical Research, I didn't know him from anywhere, but he was hard working, my Hallmark of excellence is that you must work hard and get result."

The colourful event was attended by top government functionaries and diverse ethnic nationalities which includes the Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, Prof Azubuike Onyebuchi, the Major of Umuahia South Local Government, Barrister Obike  , the Special Adviser on Politics to the governor of Abia State, hon Iheanacho Obiama, the Registrar and Bursar of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Mallam Aminu Abba and Mr John Aba and Dr Anthony Abah, Acting Director, Health Sciences and delegations from Okpoga  Development Community in Benue State and Idoma Representatives in Imo and Abia States.
