UN-PEPOLAC Honours Over 80 Personalities As Peace AmbassadorsBy Kingsley Ihearindueme

The United Nations Peace and Positive Living Awareness Centre, UN-PEPOLAC has honoured well over eighty distinguished personalities drawn from diverse socio-cultural interest groups in the country with peace award.

The award investiture held at the popular. Merit House, Maitama Abuja was to mark this year, 2024 edition of the prestigious award usually observed annually which has been used as a tool by the organization not only to spur and encourage peace promoters in the country but also to create a stabilizing atmosphere for socio-economic growth of the country.

Apart from the honourees who graced the occasion with members of their families and friends, it nonetheless drew the fancy presence of some top political notchers, labour union leaders led by Comrade Joe Ajero and some members of the public sector class just to mention but a few.

Harping on the requisite status and role of the new inductees into the hall of fame as ambassadors of peace, the convener and international coordinator of the organization, UN-PEPOLAC, His Excellency Ambassador Dr Ozioma F. Ozoemena tasked them to maintain a high moral standards and credible disposition required of a peace ambassador, stating that the job is indeed a divine call as well as an appointment bestowed on them for a progressive society.

Speaking further, the international coordinator, Ambr. Ozoemena who also answers call in the divine yard of God as Bishop went further to state that peace is an essential commodity and a panacea needed for social cohesion and socio economic development of any given country and as such should not be toiled with.

He reminded them to be steadfast, honest and as well work tirelessly in promoting peace in their immediate environment and the country in general as according to him, the peace ambassadorial work required them to be busy always.

Speaking on the existential need for peace to triumph in our immediate environment, a natural doctor,  Vaturopath Dr. Wumi Vera Okocha who is a trainer in peace and non-violence in the country said that we need peace within our immediate homes and families and except we cultivate the habit in maintaining peace in such places, the country will not get relieved.

Ambr Dr. Okocha who felt thrilled and fulfilled with the honour bestowed on her however stated that she is not going to rest on her oars but will go more further to train more peace advocates, especially the youths and women as to further reach out to all the tentacles and borderlands of the country.

Also contributing, Ambr Chief Frank Obi Anyiofor, the Group Managing Director of Metro Frank Group of companies harps on the need to touch lives and adding value to different lives in our society as part of the prerequisites for sustainable development.

Ambr Frank Obi Anyiofor, who said he owns a football club as part of his contributions in mentoring young men in our clime and which has won him over a hundred and fifty meritorious service awards from across the country averred that it takes one who knows the value of life to embrace peace. He also was part of the numerous distinguished personalities appointed as UN-PEPOLAC peace ambassadors as he pointed out that part of his clarion calls in life is to touch lives and changing the narrative positively.

Some of the people who also spoke about the event commended the organizers for splendid job, saying that peace is about what will bring development, especially as the country is bedeviled with a hydra-headed internal crisis. They went further to state that there is no alternative to peace as they urged those on the other side of the divide to have a change of mind and join the league of those propagating for peace in the country.
