Taraba: Furore as “Faceless” Group Accuses LG Boss of Lopsided Appointments
An online platform popular in the State had earlier published a story alleging that Christian community protest lopsided appointments by the Jalingo Local government boss.
However, the Concerned Christian Youth in the State described the allegations as unnecessary distraction, and not a representation of the position of Christian youth in the local government area.
According to the group, “It is with disappointment that we address the baseless accusations propagated by Taraba News on behalf of anonymous individuals, targeting Dr. Aminu Hassan, the Executive Chairman of Jalingo Local Government, alleging marginalization. While initially inclined to dismiss such unfounded claims, it is imperative to set the record straight.
“In the pursuit of political relevance, it is paramount to uphold the truth over a facade of falsehoods. Dr. Aminu Hassan has consistently demonstrated integrity and transparency in his role as the Executive Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council. Any insinuation of religious bias against him is not only erroneous but also a gross misrepresentation of Dr. Hassan’s character. He firmly believes in the primacy of humanity over religious affiliation, emphasizing the unity of all people regardless of their faith.
“The assertion of Christian marginalization is unfounded and begs the question: can there be varying degrees of Christianity among believers? Contrary to these claims, numerous Christians have been appointed under Dr. Jauro Hassan’s leadership, reflecting his commitment to inclusivity and diversity. It is regrettable that instead of celebrating the appointments of fellow Christians, some individuals, perhaps driven by personal agendas, have chosen to fuel a smear campaign to advance their own interests.
Anyone who is sincere will acknowledge that Dr Hassan remains steadfast in his dedication to the vision of His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, in fostering a cohesive Taraba devoid of discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, or creed. He continues to advocate for unity and cooperation among all residents, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the principles of fairness and equality for all”.
Also reacting to to the allegations, Mr Moses Shamang, one of the Aids to the Chairman said that those behind the publication are those who lost out and are not patient enough to wait for their time.
“I am a Christian and I am serving in his administration. In fact, I am among the first set of persons he appointed. And I am not alone there are several other Christians so what are they saying. I understand that there are some people who wanted appointments and did not get so I am not surprised if they go to these lengths to try and smear the Chairman and blackmail him” he said.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman of Jalingo could not be reached for reactions as his line is switched off.
